Solid materials are composed of aggregated atoms and molecules, and show a variety of properties depending on the combination of elements and differences in structure. In our laboratory, we conduct research on the creation of solid materials with new functional properties by combining various chemical reactions with atomically controlled crystal growth methods. In particular, we focus on “controlling the properties of mixed-anion oxide thin films” and are currently working on the realization of multiferroic properties in transition metal oxyfluoride thin films at room temperature, the development of all-solid-state fluoride ion secondary batteries, and the development of new functions through heterostructures or transistor structures. We also use advanced analytical techniques and theoretical calculations to elucidate the mechanisms of chemical reactions and physical properties.
